When we mention all the Palestine land and all the villages
that are supposed to be part from each other, the problem start from the
situation in Palestine since the 1948, and that was happen at the
occupation from Israel people to the Palestine people, and that lead us to
understand what Israel did through the things that they did at that time.
Which they separated the cities and the villages from each other. While I
was thinking I told myself I must understand this word and try to define it
from different sources that I might it will give me the right definition
about it. If we want to give the right definition in the first about
separation. Which separation mean is an act or instance of being
the state separated, a place, line or point of parting. And it also
mean something that separates or been divided from each other.
"Eyal Weizan was saying his book about the word separation he gave it a different name which is "apartheid", and he said between Israel and Palestinians within the occupied Territories has been extended, on the larger, national scale, to that of partition."
If we want to start with the definition we must talk from different
people which are the Arab people, Jewish people. the arab people or the
Palestine themselves they say it as (Tafreq or fasel), that mean be part
from each other in the same city. When the arab people say that they are
part away and far away from the next side of the word that may help
them to try work with the situation in Palestine.
And the Jewish people say about the separation Israelis cites
“security” as part of the need for separation. as the thing that
will keep the Palestine people far away from the Jewish people and to
live in the same country but everyone in a far away from each other. The
Jewish people use some ways to make the separation through settlement
and check point.
From the villages that had the big effect from the Israel separation
is Battier. When I pass along with the bus I will face the check point,
"which called Beit Jala check point". we can go through it, and after we
pass this check point we will be in the Palestine authority or in the
Palestine areas. But if we want to reach Battier from Beit Jala we need to
go in the first place Beit Jala and to go stop near the DCO which an
organize group to help the people. after we arrived to the DCO we went
to Battier by walking and see all the land escape and all the empty land
in Palestine that Israel won't let us see them.
Railway separates us from old Palestine
In every city in Palestine
For the first time in my life I took a walk like this. Which was from
(Beit Jala) all the way through walking to (Battier) it was a really nice
walk with all my friends and my teachers and they gave us a lot of
information about the nature and about the land. While we were walking
we didn’t take the way that was use to walk in it, but the way has a lot of
small stones and dust, it was hard to walk in it but the teacher told us that
we should take this way for the walk not any easy way to do the walk.
They told us that the way will show us the real geography for
Palestine before Israel be part in this country. And we saw the different
ways that the Israel want us just to see these ways only.
When I was walking, I start talking to myself why we don’t came
to these places all the time to see all the wonderful sights in Palestine.
And I start thinking in all the ways, how Palestine was nice to walk
through the lands that Palestine have that just before the Israel took our
lands from us.
When we get through the medial of the way of the walking, we
took a rest and we saw a beautiful tree in the way and the old of the tree
like hundreds years ago. Which it called (Quercus)or (Oak Tree).
That was a really nice tree to look at and the teacher gave us the
most wonderful ideas about that tree, and the way that tree is steadfast in
the face of difficulties, like the weather changes and the human
difficulties around it. But that tree until now still facing all the problems
that the tree will face it. from my thinking I found that tree is like a
treasure to the Palestine people to be in there country.
The street that train in it is the way that separate Beit Jala from
Jerusalem before that road and the train the way was easy to go from Beit
Jala to Jerusalem was very easy but after the Israel occupation they put
the checkpoints all around the places to separate the two countries from
each other.
After the Israel put the checkpoint to separate Beit Jala from
Jerusalem form each other, the main mention for the train was to take
the goods from those countries to Jerusalem to sell it to the stores and the
people to get useful from it. But the thing that the train don’t do it that
the people they are not allow to get into that train for a ride or like a
transportation from a country to another one.
When we finished looking to the train, our legs heed us to the city
Battier which is a really beautiful city to stay in and to live. This city is
near to the train. And what is more beautiful in that city is the green trees
all around the city, and the geographic location for that place is just
wonderful to live in.
Through the time that we set and kept walking in Battir we saw a
family they use to live in that city, but in the Nikba war in 1948 these
people didn’t left their homes just because of the war but they stay inside
their homes until the time had to finish the war. But the people in that
city gave us the best sense of belonging to the country.
The people in Battier they are just nice people to deal with them by
talking and they explain everything happen in the war time and after the
war time that the people had to deal with, but they seem very strong for
staying in there city.
Because in different city they will be scared to stay in a city that
have war and they will be force to leave there city and to move to
another countries to live from the people that are doing the war and
killing innocent people.
Most of the people in Palestine in that time had to leave their
home and their cites for some while of a time until the war had to finish
in 1967, from the people that they force to leave their homes until now
they can come to Palestine to live in it. Because the Israel government
won't let them come to live in Palestine or in Jerusalem. I mean by the
people "refugees" in the West Bank and Gaza, refugees in other countries
to come back live in Palestine.
Now these people like to came live her and they really want to live
in Palestine to live and they wish also to get the Israel idea, which is the
prove that the people have the right to stay in Palestine or in Jerusalem.
That mean the fact that they want an Israeli ID is proof that they have the
right to stay in Palestine or Jerusalem. Also, you still need to explain
what territory you are defining as Palestine.
Which is the railway that separate Jerusalem from Beit Jala and the
countries near it. Which that road called area (C) and the road is the
railway (N.60).And I think that road is wrong to be there that will
separate the countries from each other. But the problem was that the
Israel government said that road should be there and must be to keep the
Jerusalem area from the Palestine area.
